Keyboards

Lokashakti the nonprofit is currently looking for an experienced keyboardist / multi-instrumentalist to help form Lokashakti the band. If we do say so ourselves, this is a totally unique opportunity for someone with good politics, serious musical skills, and an ardent desire to combine the two.

The band is conceived as a means of promoting the work of our nonprofit organization through original, politically-driven protest music, and eventually as a way to generate income for the organization. Potential applicants should therefore, in addition of course to being excellent musicians, also be well acquainted, and on board, with our mission and method of operation. Due to the unorthodox nature of Lokashakti, a willingness to help out with other aspects of the organization is strongly desirable. People with vocal ability are encouraged to apply, as are those with experience playing percussion, harmonium, and creating hip hop / electronic music.

Though like with most bands this will be a volunteer position to start, as funding becomes available the applicant will transition to being a paid employee of Lokashakti Inc.

To familiarize yourself with the organization and what it is we do, please visit our website at www.lokashakti.org.  For more information on this position, please read this letter from our Executive Director to prospective band members.

To apply, please send an email to jobs@lokashakti.org detailing:

  • Musical experience (including links to music up online)
  • Activism / political involvement
  • Educational background and relevant work history
  • Anything else you think we might like to know
